What's New in KyPlot 5.0

New features in KyPlot 5.0 include:

Graphing

New graph types

  • Box/column scatter graph

  • Polar bubble graph

  • 3D XY bubble graph

  • Polar mesh graph

  • 2D XY vector graph

  • 3D vector graph

  • Polar vector graph

  • 2D surface graph

  • "4D" mesh graph

  • 3D scatter bar graph

  • Polar scatter bar graph

  • Mesh graphs on nonorthogonal grids

Introduction of "Built-in" graph data type

Graph data can now be stored as a intrinsic data set for each graph, independent of spreadsheets. With this data type you can easily create graphs of large size (more than 256 columns or 65,536 rows.

Expansion of graph data size

The "built-in" data type does not have the limit due to the spreadsheet size. Furthermore, even with the "spread-linked" data type, you can now create graphs having more than 65536 data points by selecting "Assign multiple sheets for series:" in the "Data Type" dialog box. The limit of graph data size is 65536 series and 16,777,216 points in programming (limited by system resources; usually several million points for (X, Y) paired data).

Addition of "Quick Plot" menus

You can now create many kinds of standard graphs at once just by selecting one of the menus or toolbar buttons.

Introduction of graph "Region"

A region is a closed area of the graph plot area specified by (X, Y) coordinates of its border. By specifying a region, you can draw its border and/or area, or restrict graph drawing outside or inside the region.

Margins in "data clipping"

Margins can be set for "Clip data drawing in plot area" function.

Irregular grids for 2D mesh graphs and column graphs

KyPlot now supports non-equispaced X or Y for 2D mesh graphs and column graphs; For 2D mesh graphs, select Draw using X/Y scaling for the option of X/Y Scaling and Drawing Mode.

Mesh Scope

This setting specifies what cells are shown in the mesh of 2D XY orthogonal mesh graphs.

Fast Redrawing of Graphs by Vector Caching

When this mode is used, a metafile image of data drawing of each graph is stored in memory and replayed, which enables fast redrawing of the graph.

"Inclination angle" for 3D graphs

You can now "tilt" 3D graphs. By changing the inclination angle, you can create 3D horizontal bar graphs and 3D horizontal stacked bar graphs.

Rotation of 3D graphs by "Free Rotation"

In the "3D Settings " dialog box, You can change the elevation angle and rotation angle by clicking on the graph sample and dragging or using arrow keys. You can also rotate a 3D graph in the figure page by applying the [Arrange] - [Rotate/Reflect] - [Free Rotate/Skew] menu and using arrow keys or mouse dragging.

"Axis Layout" dialog box

In this dialog box, you can specify the layout of all the axes of a graph. You can also save the axis layout of the selected graph as a axis layout template file so that you may apply it to other graphs.

Improvements in "Axis Labels" dialog box

You can now change font attributes and offsets of individual labels independent of label texts.

Range type options for axis range

With these options you can add padding to standard ranges.

Missing data options

The data points with blank or non-numeric  Y values can be treated as missing points.

Graph "Name"

A name can be attached to each graph.

Independent "Fill" and "Line" attributes to "Area"

"Fill" and "Line" attributes to "Area" can be set independent of symbol attributes.

Alternating Area Fill Across X Axis

When selected, the area in area graphs is painted alternately across X axis: the part above the X axis is drawn with "Area Fill" and the part below X axis is drawn with "Symbol Fill".

Break lines at Missings

When this option is checked, connecting lines are not drawn before and after the points of missing values.

Connect points by X position

Check this option to connects points across data series by X positions.

Shift symbols transversely

When symbols are overlapped in Line/Scatter graphs, you can shift them transversely so that individual symbols can been seen.

Enhanced bubble graph functionalities

Bubble symbol and data point symbols are now independently displayed.

Fitting to polar graphs

Fitting methods are now applicable to polar graphs.

New fitting methods

  • Local Polynomial Regression for Plane Curve

  • Smoothing Spline Regression for Plane Curve

  • Local Polynomial Regression for Space Curve

  • Smoothing Spline Regression for Space Curve

Extension of fitting methods applicable to 2D graphs

The following fitting methods are now applicable to 2D XY (Cartesian) Line/Scatter/Area graphs and Polar Line/Scatter/Area graphs:

  • Bivariate Histogram

  • Bivariate Kernel Density Estimation

  • Bivariate Local Likelihood Density Estimation

  • Bivariate Penalized Likelihood Density Estimation

When Z values are set, i.e. XYZ data type, the following methods are also applicable:

  • Surface Interpolation

  • Bivariate Thin Plate Smoothing Spline Regression

  • Bivariate Local Polynomial Regression

  • Bivariate Local Likelihood Regression

  • Bivariate Penalized Likelihood Regression

New function plots

  • Bivariate implicit function Curve for Cartesian coordinate system

  • Univariate Function curve for polar coordinate system

  • Parametric Plane Curve for polar coordinate system

  • Bivariate implicit function Curve for polar coordinate system

  • Bivariate Function surface for polar coordinate system

Image processing

Improved Image processing speed

Higher performance for color mapping and 2D FFT for images.

Data analysiss

New statistical procedures

  • Single Factor ANCOVA with One Covariate

  • Single Factor ANCOVA with Multiple Covariates

Generall

Improved text file importing

When the number of rows in a text file exceeds 65536, KyPlot can now import the whole content of the file in multiple spreadsheets. This also applies to pasting a text placed in the Windows Clipboard.

Together with the expanded assignment of graph data series as described below, you can create graphs of such large data.

Support for EPS file format

PostScript Raster (Encapsulated PostScript) format is supported doe exporting.

Addition of shortcut keys

The following short cut keys are supported:

  • Ctrl + Insert: copy

  • Shift + Insert: paste.
